Don’t you want to know how they keep starting fires?
Can you be a frat bro when you’re 30? I guess if you want to keep the fraternities away from an Electric Six concert, throw it at Smalls. I think I saw one act of beer can aggression all night and an unfortunate choice of sandals. Besides that, the energy from the audience was beautiful. Electric Six concerts are where misfit rock n’ rollers go to relive their youth. The audience was as diverse in age as a CCR concert but 100 times more fun. This was thefirst time I had ever had the pleasure of seeing Electric Six, and I am glad I did. Dick Valentine might be one of the funniest performers I have seen live. “Song one” (this is actually how he introduces each song) was equally as powerful as song 17. The only change in energy was the audience who got distinctively more rebellious as the band progressed. After introducing a few new songs and playing the classics like “Danger! High Voltage” and “Gay Bar”, Electric Six made their rounds and greeted the audience. This is always a class act for any hometown favorite. It is always an honor and a great sense of pride to see a group from Detroit who “made it” come back to town and play an intimate show with as much energy as they would for a larger audience. Detroit is definitely deserving of such a show, and I’d like to think we made Electric Six proud.
